Texas A&M College of Medicine Drives Educational Quality Improvement with Blue

Montreal, Quebec – January 14, 2019 – The Texas A&M College of Medicine has partnered with Explorance to meet their diverse course evaluation and reporting needs.

“We wanted a software that permitted us to automate as much of the evaluation and reporting process as we could,” comments Cayla R. Teal, Associate Dean for Evaluation and Assessment, Research Associate Professor at Texas A&M College of Medicine. “Blue’s robust reporting capabilities were strong drivers in the college’s decision, and will allow us to maximize the time our personnel spends working directly with faculty and students to improve our curriculum and student outcomes.”

A medical institution with unique needs, Texas A&M required a system that could centralize their feedback gathering processes. “We will use Blue primarily for evaluation of courses, clerkships, and electives, and for reporting to our Curriculum Committee and administration about curricular performance and outcome,” Cayla adds. “Its unique capabilities will also allow us to use it for specific forms of student assessments.”

“We included the Data Integrator (DIG) to easily obtain the input we needed from our educational coordinators who are ‘on the ground,’” continues Cayla. A dynamic tool, the Data Integrity Gateway (DIG) will help the college prepare their enrollment data for course evaluations. “This will help ensure that our evaluation processes are accurate.

The college was initially interested in Bluepulse which is how they became aware of the Blue course evaluation software. “We remain interested in Bluepulse’s ability to foster more formative feedback between faculty and students using an app-based program, and continue to explore how it might meet our needs in that area.”
