Explorance Announces Faculty Research Grant 2022 Recipients: 10 Outstanding Research Groups Selected
Montreal, Canada – January 24, 2021 – Explorance, in collaboration with the University of Louisville, is pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s Faculty Research Grant.
The Explorance Faculty Research Grant is awarded annually to those academic trailblazers who undertake innovative course evaluation and assessment research.
This grant directly supports those researchers and institutions delivering excellence in this crucial field of study. It forms part of Explorance’s ongoing mission to assist Higher Education institutions in improving the student experience, and adopting the very best Student Insight Solutions.
The 2022 Faculty Research Grant Review Committee and Explorance would like to extend thanks to the Bluenotes Community for their participation in the call for 2022 Faculty Research Grant Applications.
Explorance CEO Samer Saab commented on this year’s selection process:
“My sincere thanks to all applicants who applied for this year’s Faculty Research Grant, and the University of Minnesota for administering the vital review process. This year’s recipients represent the cutting-edge of innovative feedback and evaluation research from around the globe, and the findings these projects will uncover will be invaluable to institutions seeking to improve the student learning experience. I look forward to learning these in-person at the upcoming Bluenotes GLOBAL conference from July 31 to August 3 – as we turn insight into action and supporting better student insights for the entire community.”
Selecting This Year’s Recipients
Applicants were asked to submit research proposals on the theme of making innovative use of assessment/evaluation data and/or other types of experience-based data. An impressive set of submissions representing a broad spectrum of approaches were received this year for consideration.
A blind review process was administered and coordinated by the University of Minnesota. Each research grant application was anonymized upon receipt by Explorance for review by at least two members of our 18-person review committee, made up of faculty and administrators representing Higher-Ed institutions in the Bluenotes Community from around the world.
Explorance has committed a total of US$135,000 to be awarded to the Faculty Research Grant recipients, with each research project being awarded between $10,000 and $15,000.
Commenting on her team’s selected proposal, Sofia Georgiadou, PhD, LPC-S, LMFT, NCC, of Toronto Film School, Yorkville University stated:
“My co-investigators and I know deep in our hearts that this is an important project to carry out, and we are grateful for this grant. We are elated and looking forward to getting started, as well as sharing our findings at the Bluenotes GLOBAL Conference this summer.”
Additionally, Turaj Ashuri, PhD, Associate Professor, Kennesaw State University also commented on being selected for this year’s grant:
“This award will have a significant positive impact on our students and enables us to increase our institutional effectiveness.”
Learn the Findings
Research findings from the grant recipients will be presented at the Bluenotes Global 2022 conference to be held in Chicago from July 31 – August 3. With the presentation of research findings being one of the major elements of the conference, this year marks a major milestone in the Bluenotes GLOBAL conference history, with the return to an in-person event set to boost the community’s engagement with an era-defining set of challenges.
