We made it! Explorance Attends the Great Places to Work Canada Award Ceremony

Written by Zeljka Eyamba, Human Resources,.

April 16th 2014, 5:30 p.m. Fairmount Royal York Hotel, Toronto – Great Places to Work Canada Award Ceremony Event (GPTWC)

As the Explorance team stepped into the ceremony hall and claimed table number 24, we were oblivious that only the top 50 companies were invited to the GPTWC award ceremony. We applied to be part of the survey back in November and had several days to provide GPTWC with all the necessary documents. As a “human” company, we wanted to see where we stood, shoulder to shoulder, with the pioneers who consistently challenge the old-fashioned way of managing employees.

The trust survey and cultural audit results were shared with us weeks before this trip but we never new whether we had made it on the list. Even though the overall picture seemed positive, Samer Saab, CEO of Explorance, assured the whole team that the top 50 was not reachable for us this time around.  Personally, I did not care about the ranking; my thoughts were concentrated on the received feedback and the opportunities for improvement.

“The number 39 for midsize companies:  Explorance,” the overly excited host said. The whole team jumped, finally confirming the feeling that we are doing something right and that we deserve to be on the list. We are proud to work at Explorance and this placement showed that we are on the right path.  Even though the path is right, the journey is long.  With the continuous improvement, together as Explorance family, we can reach the place beyond “the ranking”.

The improvement list is long. Let’s start with the opportunity number 1- my next blog post!
