To QP or not to QP: Encouraging Module Leader Engagement in Evaluation Surveys

Presenters:Elena Zaitseva, Liverpool John Moores University
Natalie Holland, Liverpool John Moores University

Most higher education institutions in the UK use standardised questionnaires for module/course evaluations. While necessary standardised data sets from module evaluations don’t always meet the needs of their subject or instructors, and teaching staff has become unengaged with them, perceiving them as a top-down management driven process.

In this webinar, Liverpool John Moores University discusses the QP (Questions Personalisation) feature in Blue and how it gives them the ability to add course-specific tailored questions to module evaluations. QP offers them the opportunity to better explore different evaluation perspectives and gives academics more ownership in the process of module evaluation.

The webinar will explore module leaders’ engagement with the QP by looking at longitudinal data (three years’ worth of data). Topics to be covered include:

  • How was QP utilised by the module leaders
  • What type of questions were use in different subject areas and across the institution?
  • Course leaders’ perspective on QP gathered via focus groups
  • Future institutional developments
