San José State University Selects Explorance Blue to Streamline Course Evaluation Processes and Advance Faculty Success

To support these goals, the Division of Academic Affairs sought to enhance the university’s course evaluation system to better align with the evolving needs of its diverse course offerings and academic community. 

SJSU’s Division of Academic Affairs launched a comprehensive review of potential platforms, bringing together representatives from the Professional Standards Policy Committee, Student Evaluation Review Board, Faculty Success, Institutional Research & Strategic Analytics, and other offices. The committee evaluated potential vendors to find a platform that could deliver three key outcomes: 

• Better reporting: SJSU sought a solution that would provide richer, more transparent reporting on teaching effectiveness, allowing administrators, faculty, and committees to access comprehensive insights for continuous improvement. 

• Better automation: Seamless integration with PeopleSoft, Canvas, and Interfolio was critical to eliminate manual processes and provide a unified, automated experience, making it easier for students, faculty, and administrators to manage evaluations and access results. 

• Higher response rates: By offering multiple communication channels, including email, Canvas, and QR codes, SJSU aims to make feedback more accessible and convenient for students, encouraging higher participation and fostering a culture of open dialogue and improvement.
