Bluenotes GLOBAL 2020 VX: A Truly Global Experience!
Montreal, Canada – June 4, 2020 – Explorance, in collaboration with the University of Louisville, is proud to announce the Bluenotes GLOBAL 2020 Virtual Experience. This year will be a little bit different from the previous seven conferences. Bluenotes GLOBAL 2020 VX is still scheduled to take place from August 3-4. However, the new virtual format has allowed us to create a program that will run in NA, EMEA, and APAC-friendly time zones to accommodate our customers from around the world – making it the first truly global conference. The 2020 conference theme is Harnessing the power of feedback to advance transformation in teaching and learning, while managing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“One of the best things about the Bluenotes GLOBAL conference is the networking and sharing of experiences with fellow practitioners from across the world,” says Yeona Jang, Chief Community Engagement Officer at Explorance. “The decision to make it a virtual conference was not an easy one for us, but we are confident and committed to creating an interactive and immersive learning experience that still captures the best parts of the in-person event. This first-ever online experience will be a truly global event where no matter where you are, there will be live sessions that you can join – just from the safety of your computer screen.”
Institution-led Presentations
In the spirit of the Bluenotes Community, presentations at the virtual experience will be led by leaders and practitioners in institutional effectiveness, institutional research, teaching and learning, technology, and faculty who will share their experiences and research findings.
“We are grateful for our community members’ participation in making the virtual experience meaningful,” Yeona continues. “We have over 60 experience-rich presentations, including panels not only to reflect on the impact of COVID-19 but also discuss how we can collectively manage the future together.”
“And – we are up for the challenge of creating virtual social networking events to help attendees connect and expand their professional networks. This is a tradition at Bluenotes GLOBAL, so we want to ensure we still facilitate the community feel where most people know each other by name.”
Keynote Speaker
Dr. Salma Ghanem, Ph.D., Provost, DePaul University, will deliver the keynote speech titled, The Dialectical Tension in the Relationship of Faculty and Administration: An Intercultural and Communication Approach.
“Not much can happen in the world of higher education without faculty buy-in,” Dr. Ghanem states in her keynote description. “While both faculty and administrators care deeply about their institutions, they view the enterprise very differently. Using an intercultural communication framework to understand the sometimes-opposing perspectives would strengthen the vision of an institution and provide a trajectory for success.”
Faculty Research Grant Findings
In addition to the many community-led sessions, there will also be presentations from the 2020 recipients of the Explorance faculty research grant. The 16 awardees will present their research based on the discovery of new knowledge and understanding of the use of assessment or course evaluation data in various aspects of teaching and learning.
